SEO tactics revealed part 1
I have learnt some interesting SEO tactics from Brad Callen. If you want your page rank to be high, what are the ways to do it? One way is to pay a certain fee to take up an SEO course and learn from an expert. Another way is to find a specialist to tweak your website. Alternatively, you can try to do it through trial and error. Probably, another better method would be to analyze and duplicate a high-ranking webpage.
What is page rank? Page rank is Google’s way of giving a specific value to how popular your website is. It is based on the number of “votes” other websites cast for your website. A “vote” is simply when another website places a link on their website that is pointing to your website. Generally, the more “votes” or links you have pointing to your website, the higher your page rank.
How do you see the page rank of a website? Just download Google Toolbar Installer and a Google Toolbar with a page rank icon will appear in your internet browser.
Now to find a high-ranking webpage, key in your specific term or keyword into Google search engine and Google will return a search engine result page (SERP). Most of the time, the SERP will display high-ranked webpages relevant to your desired search term or keyword.
Choose a webpage, which you feel you might be able to duplicate. Process to its main page. What we want to find out is how this website had been optimized. So we need to look at its source code and search for the following items.
1. Are there any “h1″ header tags and are specific keyword inserted within those tags.
2. Is the website using the main keyword in the “title” tags.
3. Are there any bolded, underlined or italicized keyword anywhere in the body of the webpage. Do a search for plural and singular form of the keyword.
4. Is the webpage using “alt” image tags and placing the keyword within the tag. You should try to insert your keyword in the “alt” tags of all your images. Just one keyword for each tag will do.
5. Finally, check whether there is any keyword placed at the very beginning of the copy and at the very end of the copy.
