Web Editor Tools Available

Right now, in the market, there are a lot of web editor softwares that can help you to design good quality webpages. Some are actually free. Most of time, there is not a need to know any technical HTML programming.

Here, I have include four commonly used softwares.

Nvu

Nvu is an open source web editor that allows for WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editing of pages, making web creation as easy as typing a letter with your word processor.

Nvu generates HTML code creation that will work with all of today’s most popular browsers. It is also a useful tool that will allow for the learning of HTML code as it is easy to examine how code is created by tabbing between different views.

With Nvu, as it is open source project, it will be consistently upgraded. Nvu is also suitable to run on any operating system.

WebSite X5 Evolution allows the user to create a web site and does not require any HTML programming skills. It is the ideal tool for both home users and school where its simple interface would allow students to create their own pages within a short space of time.

Web Site X5 interface takes the form of a wizard style where five steps will take you from some content and an idea to a finished and functional web site. There are no programming skills required and there is 1000 templates available for the beginner to work from. There are online guides, pdfs and video tutorials available on the Website X5 site.

Dreamweaver 8

Dreamweaver is a very popular web editor that has allows the creation of high standard web sites. It is very powerful editor that has features that are not found in other editors.

Features of Dreamweaver include the ability to create and edit CSS style sheets, validate the html code to W3C standards and ability to compare files. It is also possible to extend Dreamweaver features through the download of extensions which has added functionality.

However there is a steep learning curve in using Dreamweaver for the beginner.

Expression Web

Expression Web is the new Microsoft replacement to FrontPage.

Expression Web’s interface, is similar to Dreamwwaver based on palettes flanking the main workspace that shows web pages you are working on. Any web page consists of code that produces the desired layout onscreen, and in Expression Web you can work in Design view, Code view or Split view, which shows both code and layout. This interface is the most common found with web editors.

Expression Web’s drag-and-drop capabilities and excellent code editing features are really useful. The code it generates is more standards compliant than Frontpage.
